Edge Boards & Sheet Protectors

Right-Size Your Boxes
Using a box that is too large wastes void fill material, increases dimensional weight shipping charges, and allows contents to shift during transit. Choose the smallest box that fits your product with adequate cushioning on all six sides.
The Two-Inch Rule
Leave at least two inches of cushioning material between your product and every wall of the box. This buffer zone absorbs shock during drops and impacts. For fragile items, increase this to three or four inches.
H-Tape for Heavy Boxes
For boxes over 40 lbs, apply tape in an H-pattern: across the center seam and both edges of the top and bottom. This distributes stress across the box and prevents flap blowout during handling and stacking.
Wrap Before Stacking
Always apply stretch wrap to pallet loads before moving them. A minimum of three revolutions at the top, middle, and base of the load provides basic stability. For heavy loads or long transit, use five or more revolutions with extra attention to the base.
Control Interior Moisture
For ocean freight, long-term storage, or metal products, include desiccant packets sized for the volume of your box. A general rule is 1 unit of desiccant per cubic foot of box volume. Include a humidity indicator card to verify conditions upon arrival.
Label Clearly and Consistently
Place shipping labels on the top and at least one side of every box. Include handling instruction labels (Fragile, This Side Up, Do Not Stack) where applicable. For palletized loads, label all four sides of the stretch-wrapped pallet.
